Both new and experienced internet marketers are looking for that no-fail magic formula that can help get them on Google page 1, and for brand new websites it can get a lot trickier.
Page Rank is a method of ranking websites that was devised by Larry Page (one of Google’s founders) and is one of the primary methods by which Google ranks websites. The formula for Page Rank is long and complex, but the main things that PR looks at are: your site’s age, and thenumber of other sites linking to you, the quality of those links (how high is the PR of those sites). Another important thing to note about PR is that Google only evaluates a sites PR a few times per year, so it takes time for a new site to get any Page Rank.
There are hundreds of marketing schemes today that will promise you quick, easy money and get you the web traffic that you need; sadly, a lot of internet “gurus” have claimed to reveal hidden secrets and you end up with hype. However, there are several things you can do to increase your page rank, something you do not need to pay thousands of dollars for. These concepts may sound very basic to you, but if you keep an open mind, you can expect your pagerank to rise significantly.
Build links
You’ve chosen a great domain and set up your site, but still don’t see a lot of traffic? One of the first things you should be looking at would be building inbound links. The quicker you submit your site, the faster your page rank will climb. Why are not people doing this? Primarily because it is a tedious and seemingly menial task. Submitting sites individually to directories is not something a highly skilled internet marketer expects to do, but it is definitely worth the monotony.
Quality content only
You have probably heard it before: quality content matters. Despite all the hype that goes into a lot of marketing schemes, this one rings true for all. The more thought you put into what goes on in your site, the more visitors you can expect. Keyword research will be critical if you intend to increase your page rank quickly; the wrong keywords will attract the wrong traffic and unnecessary clicks from non-customers. Customized niche keywords would work best here. Instead of putting in broad keywords, make sure that it is specific enough (use long-tail keywords) to narrow down an average user’s search.
Use Long Tail Keywords
Long tail keywords are keywords that are longer and focused on your target niche. Ranking on a good long tail keyword will mean that you are getting exactly the right type of traffic to your site. A good example of a long tail keyword is “Hardwood flooring Essex County” or “Northern New Jersey licensed electrician”
After doing this and you’re still not getting the traffic logs you are going for, do not be disheartened. Increasing page rank takes a considerable amount of time and effort, so take it one day at a time. If you continue to work hard and stick to your plan, you can expect your pagerank to rise in no time.
